Founded in 2006, the Franciscan Community Development Center of Fairview (FCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of underserved individuals and families throughout Bergen County, New Jersey. Guided by Franciscan values of compassion, dignity, justice, and service, we empower families, women, children, seniors, veterans, and other vulnerable populations by addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality.

Through compassionate, culturally responsive partnerships, FCDC provides free educational, health, legal, social, nutritional, and advocacy services that promote stability, opportunity, and self-sufficiency. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every individual is treated with dignity and respect, without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected status.

Our mission is not simply to meet immediate needs, but to build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities by empowering people through education, economic opportunity, and compassionate service. We believe that every person deserves the opportunity to live with hope, dignity, and the promise of a better future.

HISTORY

The Franciscan Community Development Center of Fairview is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of New Jersey. The organization is led by the Board of Directors who share the mission and philosophy of the corporation.

In July of 2006, The Franciscan Community Development Center of Fairview reached out to the congregation of St. John the Baptist Church and entered into a partnership to renovate portions of the Church property to create a comprehensive service center. Without a penny but with a lot of heart a miracle began.

The F.C.D.C is located in the southeast section of Bergen County in the town of Fairview, bordering Cliffside Park. It is a non-denominational, interfaith, pro-life organization based on the principles of love, charity, and compassion.

The Center will serve vulnerable populations being the poor, the underprivileged, immigrants, women and children, and the senior citizen population of Bergen County.

Today the Center clearly reflects the compassionate and generous offerings of scores of organizations, people and children from all walks of life but united by one heart. The Center has become the biggest mission of charity in the State of New Jersey and has been recognized for putting the Community back into the significance of Community Development Centers.
